دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا، در گفت‌وگویی تلفنی با شبکه سی‌بی‌اس نیوز گفت فرد دیگری را برای رهبری آینده ایران در نظر دارد و در عین حال تأکید کرد جنگ با جمهوری اسلامی «تقریباً به پایان رسیده است».

ترامپ در واکنش به اعلام جانشینی مجتبی خامنه‌ای به عنوان رهبر جمهوری اسلامی گفت: «هیچ پیامی برای او ندارم. هیچ پیامی، مطلقاً.» او سپس افزود که فرد دیگری را برای رهبری آینده ایران در ذهن دارد.

رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا همچنین با اشاره به وضعیت نظامی جمهوری اسلامی گفت: «فکر می‌کنم جنگ تقریباً کامل شده است. جمهوری اسلامی دیگر نیروی دریایی ندارد، ارتباطاتش از بین رفته و نیروی هوایی هم ندارد. موشک‌هایشان پراکنده شده‌اند و پهپادهایشان در همه‌جا در حال نابود شدن است.»

به گفته ارتش آمریکا، در هفته نخست عملیات بیش از سه هزار هدف در جمهوری اسلامی هدف قرار گرفته است.

ترامپ در ادامه گفت: «اگر نگاه کنید، چیزی برایشان باقی نمانده است. از نظر نظامی تقریباً هیچ چیز باقی نمانده.»

او که پیش‌تر برآورد کرده بود این جنگ حدود یک ماه طول بکشد، روز دوشنبه به سی‌بی‌اس نیوز گفت: «ما خیلی جلوتر از برنامه زمانی پیش رفته‌ایم.»
