امین سوفیامهر، پژوهشگر فلسفه سیاسی و روابط بین‌الملل، در گفت‌وگو با منوتو پیام اخیر شاهزاده رضا پهلوی خطاب به کشورهای عربی را هوشمندانه و به‌موقع توصیف کرد و گفت با توجه به افزایش نگرانی کشورهایی مانند عربستان و امارات از اقدامات جمهوری اسلامی، زمینه شنیده‌شدن این پیام در منطقه فراهم شده است.

به گفته او، اگر تلاش‌های دیپلماتیک بیشتری برای تأثیرگذاری بر سیاست‌گذاری این کشورها انجام شود، ممکن است برخی دولت‌های عربی دست‌کم به‌صورت پشت پرده از آلترناتیو مطرح‌شده برای آینده ایران حمایت کنند.

سوفیامهر افزود اگر کشورهای عربی منافع بلندمدت خود را در نظر بگیرند، احتمال دارد از گزینه مطرح‌شده از سوی ولیعهد ایران حمایت کنند و روابطی مثبت با ایران آینده شکل بگیرد.

سخنگوی کاخ سفید تأکید کرد رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا «می‌خواهد در موضوع اینکه رهبر بعدی ایران چه کسی خواهد بود، نقش داشته باشد» و افزود این موضوع هنوز مشخص نشده و در حال بررسی و گفت‌وگو است.
