ژان‌نوئل بارو، وزیر امور خارجه فرانسه، در گفت‌وگو با روزنامه لیبراسیون گفته است که جمهوری اسلامی باید در چارچوب مذاکرات دیپلماتیک به «امتیازهای اساسی» تن دهد تا از حمله احتمالی آمریکا به خاک این کشور جلوگیری شود.

او گفت ایالات متحده خود را در موقعیتی قرار داده که بتواند عملیات نظامی علیه ایران انجام دهد و هم‌زمان پیشنهاد مذاکره داده است. به گفته بارو، تهران باید این فرصت را جدی بگیرد و رویکرد خود را به‌صورت بنیادین تغییر دهد.

وزیر امور خارجه فرانسه تاکید کرد جمهوری اسلامی باید از تبدیل شدن به تهدیدی برای محیط منطقه‌ای و منافع امنیتی اروپا دست بردارد. او همچنین خواستار پایان سرکوب داخلی شد و گفت حکومت باید به سرکوب خاتمه دهد، زندانیان را آزاد کند، اعدام‌ها را متوقف کند و دسترسی به اینترنت را دوباره برقرار کند.

آقای بارو همچنین گفت تلاش‌های فرانسه برای آزادی شهروندان فرانسوی بازداشت‌شده در ایران مانع اتخاذ مواضع سخت علیه جمهوری اسلامی نشده است. او به تصمیم اخیر اتحادیه اروپا اشاره کرد که سپاه پاسداران را در فهرست سازمان‌های تروریستی قرار داده است.

سفارت ایتالیا در تهران اعلام کرد بخش کنسولی این سفارتخانه تا اطلاع ثانوی برای مراجعه عموم تعطیل خواهد بود.

بر اساس اطلاعیه منتشرشده، در این مدت تنها خدمات ضروری، فوری و غیرقابل تعویق برای شهروندان ایتالیایی ارائه می‌شود و سایر خدمات کنسولی متوقف خواهد شد.
