ماریا کورینا ماچادو، رهبر برجسته مخالفان رژیم ونزوئلا، در صفحه اینستاگرام خود عکس‌هایی از دیدارش با شاهزاده رضا پهلوی منتشر کرد و از گفت‌وگو درباره مبارزات مشترک برای آزادی ایران و ونزوئلا خبر داد.
او نوشت که در دیدار با شاهزاده رضا پهلوی درباره تلاش‌های هر دو جنبش برای مقابله با سرکوب و استبداد تبادل‌نظر کردند و عمیقاً به شجاعت مردم ایران که در برابر سرکوب بی‌رحمانه ایستاده‌اند، ادای احترام کرد.
ماچادو تأکید کرد که با توجه به تحکیم همکاری‌های بین رژیم‌های اقتدارگرای ایران و ونزوئلا، مدافعان آزادی باید هماهنگی بیشتری داشته باشند و افزود که اتحاد کاراکاس و تهران امنیت کل نیمکره غربی را بیش از پیش در خطر قرار داده است.
به گفته او، بقای این رژیم‌ها نه فقط تراژدی برای شهروندان کشورشان است که خواهان دموکراسی‌اند، بلکه تهدیدی مستقیم برای ثبات جهانی و آمریکا محسوب می‌شود، و آزادی ایران و ونزوئلا را باید در کنار هم به‌عنوان پیش‌شرط صلح و دموکراسی جهانی دانست.
