The January 18 agreement lasted 48 hours.

Yesterday's talks between Syrian President al-Sharaa and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi:

5 hours, no deal. Al-Sharaa's offer: deputy defense minister post, governorship of Hasakah, deploy Syrian forces to Kurdish capital.

Condition: expel PKK members.

Abdi asked for five days to consult. Al-Sharaa rejected. Deadline: end of Tuesday. Accept or face military action and ceasefire collapse.

Instead the SDF released a statement calling al-Sharaa's government "ISIS sympathizers, whose actions are directed and orchestrated by the Turkish state."

Damascus fired back: rejecting any attempt to use terrorism as "political or security blackmail."

What happened: 200 ISIS fighters escaped from al-Shaddadi prison during the fighting. Syria recaptured 130, blames SDF for releasing them as blackmail. SDF blames Syrian army for losing control after tribal fighters attacked.

Fighting resumed. Syrian army shelling around al-Aqtan prison and SDF headquarters in Raqqa. Army reached Panorama intersection at southern entrance to Hasakah city.

PKK in Turkey just announced they'll "never abandon" Syrian Kurds. "Whatever the cost... we will do whatever is necessary." Turkey warned it won't tolerate "provocations" targeting its peace.

Trump called al-Sharaa Yesterday. Both stressed Syria's territorial unity and protecting Kurdish rights.

Didn't stop anything.

The U.S. is trapped. 900 troops in northeast. Partnered with SDF to defeat ISIS. Now backing al-Sharaa's government for legitimization priority.
