نشریه اکسیوس در یادداشتی با عنوان «پشت‌صحنه عقب‌نشینی ترامپ از ایران» گزارش داد که تصمیم دونالد ترامپ برای خودداری از حمله نظامی به ایران پس از هفته‌ای پرتنش و نزدیک به درگیری، متاثر از مواضع متحدان در منطقه بوده است.

براساس این گزارش، در صبح چهارشنبه مقامات نظامی، سیاسی و دیپلماتیک در واشینگتن و خاورمیانه انتظار داشتند که دستور حمله به تهران ظرف چند ساعت صادر شود. اما تا ظهر همان روز مشخص شد که چنین دستوری صادر نخواهد شد و ترامپ از اجرای حمله صرف‌نظر کرده است.

در تحلیل اکسیوس آمده است که در روزهای اخیر ترامپ بارها به گزینه حمله علیه جمهوری اسلامی ایران به‌دلیل سرکوب خونین معترضان نزدیک شده بود، اما کمبود تجهیزات نظامی در منطقه، نگرانی از عواقب تلافی‌جویی ایران و هشدار متحدان منطقه‌ای موجب تردید در تصمیم‌گیری شد.

در گفت‌وگوی جداگانه با ترامپ، بنیامین نتانیاهو نخست‌وزیر اسرائیل از او خواست تا پیش از اقدام نظامی زمان بیشتری برای آماده‌سازی دفاعی بدهد، زیرا اسرائیل به‌گفته او هنوز برای مقابله با واکنش احتمالی ایران آمادگی کامل ندارد. همچنین محمد بن سلمان ولیعهد عربستان سعودی نسبت به پیامدهای حمله بر ثبات منطقه ابراز نگرانی کرد و از ترامپ خواست احتیاط بیشتری به خرج دهد.

با وجود عقب‌نشینی فعلی، اکسیوس تاکید می‌کند که گزینه عملیات نظامی علیه ایران همچنان روی میز باقی است و ممکن است در هفته‌های آتی بار دیگر بررسی شود.

آقای تیسن در گفتگویی با فاکس گفته است پیش‌بینی می‌کند ترامپ پیش از پایان دوره ریاست‌جمهوری خود به «ایران آزاد، هاوانای آزاد و کاراکاس آزاد» سفر کند.
دونالد ترامپ دو روز قبل گفته بود وقت «حکمرانی جدید» در ایران فرا رسیده است.
